Prototype Information

Re-live some great moments in history in miniature with Kato’s “Broadway Limited” pulled by the GG1 and EMD E8A locomotives. The “Broadway Limited” offered the finest in luxury travel between New York and Chicago. You had a choice of six types of private rooms ranging from cozy Roomette to luxurious Master Room with a private bath and shower. It also had an Observation-Lounge and Club-Lounge cars with game tables, magazines and
refreshment buffets and a Master Dining Car that served food in the traditional “Broadway Limited” manner. The GG1 pulled this great train fast, smoothly, and quietly between New York and Harrisburg leaving New York in the evening at 6:00 P.M. or arriving in New York at 9:30 A.M. every day. From there, diesels such as the EMD E8 would operate in pairs to take the train across the non-electrified route to Chicago, IL.

About The Train

EMD F40PH #174 - this is the first time the ONP wrapping is going onto one of Metra's newer paint version F40PH's, making #174 a distinct addition to the ONP lineup.

The "Donald E. Stephens" convention center car follows up the Rosemont car in the consist - the Donald E. Stephens Convention Hall is a centerpiece of Rosemont's business district, and is host to numerous events throughout the year including the ONP event itself.

"Allstate Arena" marks the penultimate car in the christmas train's lineup. The Rosemont based arena is host to such teams as the Chicago Wolves hockey team, and is a major Rosemont landmark and sponsor of the Operation North Pole event.

he final car of the consist is a cab-coach bearing the Operation North Pole logo and slogan - decked out with a special wreath on the rear door. The model will replicate this special wreath application with a unique detail part (also available sold separately for those who want to use these wreaths on their previous ONP trains).
