The Classic GE P42 replicated in N-Scale!

GE is known for a lot of things. Like that old 20 year old fridge sitting in your garage that was bought from Sears. They’re also known for their stock taking a 42% nosedive during the 2008 Financial Crisis. But here at KATO USA, we know them for the GE P42 locomotive.

The P42 is a diesel electric locomotive built by GE Transportation. It served as the successor to the EMD F40PH, and since then it has become one of the most common passenger train locomotives in The United States and Canada. While it was built with Amtrak specifications in mind, such as low tunnel clearance, it has found its way onto VIA Rail and Metro North service lines.

Amtrak GE P42s continue nowadays with an updated Phase VII paint scheme. You can pair these locomotives up with modern rolling stock such as Superliners and Viewliner IIs.
