Viewliner I:

The Viewliner I is Amtrak’s primary single-level sleeper, built specifically for Eastern routes where low tunnel clearances prevent the use of taller bi-level cars. Notable for its unique “double-decker” windows, it allows passengers in both upper and lower berths a view of the passing landscape. Unlike newer models, these cars are well-known for featuring an in-room sink and toilet within every Roomette, making them a distinctive, if aging, staple of the Lake Shore Limited and Silver Star fleets.

Viewliner II:

The Viewliner II represents the first major expansion of Amtrak’s single-level long-distance fleet since the 1990s. Built by CAF USA, these cars are modernized with 125 mph capability and updated interiors. The most significant shift in the II series is the removal of in-room toilets from Roomettes, moving them to shared restrooms at the end of the car to align with Superliner standards. Kato produces all types of Viewliner II including, Baggage, Sleepers, Diners, Baggage-Dormitory Cars.
